{{kava kava + rose + cacao + a pause}}

It seems that towards the end of the year, peoples lives get even busier. We are being bombarded with information, stimulus, invitations, marketing, and holiday cheer.

I love holiday cheer.

But what I love even more than holiday cheer is to slow down towards the end of the year, and really take stock of myself and my surroundings.

A look around, at the chaos, the madness, the works-in-progress, the to-do lists, the dramas, and amid all of that madness, us, breathing, a pause.

With a mug of kava hot cocoa, a wood fired vanilla and kava bath. A kava and cardamom massage from your partner, copal incense hanging in the air as you take a step back from the madness and pay attention to the magic: this time of year can be very lonely for some people, but it is so because it's a time to reach out. To touch others, and be connected. It's a time for telling people how much we love them, and appreciate them in our lives, not necessarily with presents galore but just with our attention and action. It's a time for gratitude, and the beauty of the slowing down that is the coming of winter. It's time for taking time.

This is a box for slowing down, taking a pause. The main herb I'll be using is kava kava, which is my favourite social relaxant. Social, because it makes you very relaxed while at the same time opening you up to the creative possibilities in the world, and one of the things it really helps you do is enjoy connecting with other people. I think deep down, kava kava is a herb that reminds us about connection. Connection to the world around us, to the earth, to other people, to our own creativity. Kava calms us and slows us down enough that all of a sudden we can start paying attention to what was always there, but just drowned out by the constant noise of our fast-paced society. Kava reminds us of the dreaminess of life, and I can't think of a better time of year to invoke its lessons than now, when the winter is setting in.

In this box, I'll be using kava kava, with a little rose, vanilla, and cacao.

In this box, you’ll receive four products, all centered around and exploring this topic. You can expect a tincture, a drink (like a tea or powder), a body product and an edible/ culinary product of some kind. Some ideas I’ve come up with so far are:

Kava kava vanilla cocoa
kava, vanilla & rose elixir
kava and coconut spiced syrup
Between the worlds: kava, hawthorn and ghost pipe elixir
kava kava, cacao and sandalwood massage oil
kava, palo santo and cacao ritual incense
kava kava and coconut bath salts
kava kava and palo santo bath
palo santo and kava bitters
cacao and kava infused honey
kava cocoa butter

All of this will come wrapped in linen, with printed recipes and information about the plants used in the box.
